Borough Council: March 13

Council held the regularly scheduled sessions on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. The following issues of interest were addressed:

  1. Beach Patrol Chief Matt Wolf briefed Council on the plans for protected beaches for the 2024 Summer Season.  The staffing plan and location of protected beaches are the same as for the 2023 season.  Details can be found on the Borough's Website by clicking on this link.

There will be a guard in the vicinity of Kayak Park.  The primary purpose is act as a staging area for bay rescues and not as a protected area for swimming.

  2. A resolution involving the funding and plan for street reconstruction after the 2024 summer season was discussed.  Plans call for 78th Street between Dune and Ocean Drives, 38th Street beach block to Dune Drive, south lanes of Dune Drive between 34th and 36th Street, and the 78th Street and Ocean Drive storm water pipe to be reconstructed and/or repaired.

A timeline is in place to insure that the work can begin after the 2024 summer season with completion by the beginning of the 2025 summer season.

  3. Borough property owner Martha Wright advised Council that despite the recent ordinance regulating construction sites, it appears that requirements for builders are not being enforced.  She cited three construction sites that have no fences and the name and contact information of the builder is not displayed as required.
