VIM NEEDS YOUR HELP

Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) is a Cape May County organization that provides medical services to many residents of the County that do not have the where-with-all to buy health insurance. The VIM office is located at 423 Rt. 9 in Cape May Court House, about 1/4 mile North of Stone Harbor Blvd and is looking for volunteers.
Volunteers usually contribute for 4 hours, once or twice a week (or every other week if they are time constrained). They are in need of: Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Receptionists, Clerical and Administrative Support Staff (with a basic knowledge of computer skills).

Armacost Park Renewal to be considered

The Avalon Environmental Commission will conduct a Public Hearing for the purpose of discussing a Conceptual Design for Armacost Park Restoration on Tuesday July 19th, at 4:00 PM in the Municipal Building at 3100 Dune Drive. Armacost Park is located at 74th st and Ocean Drive in Avalon.
All are invited to attend and public comment will be accepted. The Borough of Avalon has conducted a detailed analysis of the current state of the park vs. the condition it was in when the park was 1st established some decades ago in honor of the late Mayor Armocost's wife, Marion.

AHLOA sponsors Bay Atlantic Symphony fund raiser

AHLOA has donated $1,000 to the upcoming fund-raiser for our "resident" synphony orchestra, the Bay Atlantic Symphony.
The event is on Bastille Day, July 14 at 5:30. French wines and hors d'ourves will be served and a trio of Bay Atlantic musicians will play.
Tickets are $100 per peson and are available at Sturdy Bank, Avalon Chambe of Commerce and Armadillo.

Particpating groups include the Avalon Historical Society, the Friends of the Avalon Public Library, The Seven Mile Business Community and the avalon Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Pagliughi has presented the 2001 Budget to Borough Council. The budget calls for no increase in local purpose taxes for 2011.

Avalon officials remind residents to follow the Odd-Even Outdoor Water Plan. Residents with a home address that is an odd number are permitted to conduct outdoor watering on any odd numbered day of the month. Residents with a home address that is an even number are permitted to conduct outdoor watering on any even numbered day of the month. No outdoor watering will be permitted on the 31st day of any month.

2011 Winter Trash Services and Year-round collection point

Avalons Department of Public Works announced that it has begun the off-season practice of offering a manned location for the drop off of household trash and recycling. Sunday hours are noon to 5 PM
All residents and visitors - the courtesy trash and recycling collection area at 15th Street off Dune Drive by the Public Works Department is open year round Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Residents are urged to use this courtesy to help in keeping Avalon beautiful.
Don't forget to mark your cans, so they can be retrieved if the blow away in our frequent Nor'easters!
