Meeting on Armacost Park renewal

The Avalon Environmental Commission will conduct a Public Hearing for the purpose of discussing a Conceptual Design for Armacost Park Restoration on Tuesday July 19th, at 4:00 PM in the Municipal Building at 3100 Dune Drive. Armacost Park is located at 74th st and Ocean Drive in Avalon.

All are invited to attend and public comment will be accepted. The Borough of Avalon has conducted a detailed analysis of the current state of the park vs. the condition it was in when the park was 1st established some decades ago in honor of the late Mayor Armocost's wife, Marion.

Copper Thefts in Avalon

Avalon police areested three persons for theft of copper. Owners are requested to see to the security of their properties.

AHLOA, Lions host Borough Employee Breakfast

AHLOA and Avalon Lions teamed up on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to provide a breakfast for Avalon Borough employees and volunteers in recognition of their wonderful service during the past year. Some 75 folks attended the Pancake and Sausage early morning repast.

To a person, each expressed their appreciation for the good food and recognition. The "Lions Share" (pun intended) of the effort was coordinated by Abner Dowdell, current AHLOA executive committee member, former AHLOA president and Avalon Lion.

Tennis Reservation Priorities for Avalon Homeowners

AHLOA held several meetings with Council President Charles Covington and Recreational Director Dave Haberle, which resulted in the formulation by Dave Haberle of a procedure to give Avalon property owners priority to make advance court reservations at the 39th Street tennis facility. Borough Council has adopted this by resolution.

AHLOA commends Dave Haberle for his diligent and enthusiastic efforts in formulating the new procedure and expresses its sincere thanks to Borough Council for recognizing the merits of the proposal and the benefit to Avalon property owners.

Armacost Park Revitalization

The Borough of Avalon is currently undertaking consideration of a multi-phased project towards the restoration and enhancement of Armacost Park (Park). The objective of the project is to restore the parks natural resources, and enhance wildlife viewing access and facilities for the enjoyment of the community and attraction of ecotourism.

Bicycle Registration Program

The intnet is to reduce bikethefts and make it easier to recover stolen ones.
