This September the New Jersey coastline has been hit by a number of storms. First the waves from hurricane Fabian pounded the beach for almost a week. The following week the remnants of tropical storm Henri, acting like a true Nor'easter, gave the beaches another dose of heavy surf. Finally, hurricane Isabel came ashore in North Carolina and made its way to Western Pennsylvania. Avalon dodged the bullet, although wind speeds of about sixty miles per hour were noted, nevertheless wave action was very impressive. Property damage from Isabel was minimal, although a few trees were toppled.

Through all of this the beaches have stood up to the storms with minimal loss of sand.
